I am an observer, photographer and artist grown up in a little village in Western Finland, nowadays based in Turku, Finland. I am obsessed by the light and photography is my way of expression. Sitting early mornings outside by the lake with cup of coffee listening to silence and watching the changes of the morning light is what I could describe a perfect start for a new day. I love photography, especially while working with low ambient light. I seek and I find and quite often I get myself surprised. Even with the darkest moments, where the hindge of light is only left, it is possible to create something which is hidden from your eyes.
Observing the changes of the landscape is essential for my work. I am trying to capture the magical feeling, and here light plays the biggest part: it creates form and makes the atmosphere right. The optimal light does not exist, the right moment can be very sudden. Sunlight makes the forest shimmer with light, however, the light never stops moving. It only lingers for a while, then continues on its way. It does not wait to be photographed so one needs to be fast. While the targets of my photography usually turn up naturally, sketching wakes my appetite and determines the direction. Experimenting with subjects is important and a condition for my work.
